This full-day eco-adventure, packed with thrilling grade 3 & 4 rapids, offers non-stop action from start to finish. Allow around 12 hours for this unforgettable journey, with timing confirmed 24 hours prior due to water release schedules. Set the whole day aside for an epic rafting experience through stunning rainforest terrain!

Same Hard Core Rafting Adventure – Just Different Time. Why? The Tully River is an integral part of clean, green energy production, thanks to the operations of the 88 MW Kareeya Hydro. They vary the water release time pending capacity, production and volume which means we vary our Tully rafting itinerary in line with them. This ensures you’ll have the very best possible rafting experience. This itinerary includes a hearty pub dinner. If self-driving, the meeting point is the Golden Gumboot in Tully.

  • 10.00 – 11.00
    Pick-ups from Cairns accommodation.
  • 11.00 - 13.00
    Depart for the scenic drive to Tully.
  • 13.00 - 13.45
    Rendezvous with other (self-drive) rafters at the Golden Gumboot (Tully), before we stop in Tully to grab a quick bite of lunch (optional, own cost).
  • 13.45 - 14.30
    Travel to the top of the Tully River Gorge and get fitted with rafting gear.
  • 14.30 - 15.00
    Meet your River Guide who will give you a safety briefing and paddling instructions before it’s time to hit the water!
  • 15.00 - 17.30
    Raft the world-renowned Tully River conquering awesome grade 3 & 4 rapids!
  • 17.30 - 18.00
    Arrive at the take-out point and change into dry clothes before the short journey to the Feluga Hotel, a traditional Queensland country pub and the Tully home of Raging Thunder.
  • 18.15 - 19.30
    Indulge in a hearty pub dinner with your guide and crew, view photos of your trip and compare river stories surrounded by a living history of epic rafting on the Tully River!
  • 19.30 - 21.15
    Kick back and relax as we transfer you back to your accommodation.
  • Cairns~ From 10am - 9.15pm
  • Mission Beach~ From 11.45am - 8.00pm
  • Feluga~ From 12.45pm - 7.30pm

Tully River RaftingRates and Information

Please note that you MUST HAVE a competent swimming ability and be able to understand and follow River Guide instructions in English, to participate in Tully River rafting. This is for your safety. English speaking and comprehension will be assessed by River Guides at the time of pick-up; if there are concerns about your ability to understand instructions and communicate with our River Guides, you will not be able to participate in the tour and no refund is available or will be provided. Rafting is not suitable for anyone who may be pregnant.

Dietary requirements must be advised at the time of booking. All times and activities in this itinerary are intended as a guide only and are approximate and subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. weather/water). The minimum age to participate is 13 years, those under 18 years must travel with a responsible guardian or adult. For your safety you will not be permitted to raft if we detect you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and in these instances, no refund will apply. If you have any medical conditions you are worried about, please talk to our friendly team. Action digital photos of the day will be available to buy, at the end of the tour, please see link below.

The Tully Classic is no longer a regular tour, we’re pleased to offer it as a unique group experience departing from Cairns. With a 6:00 am pick-up from Cairns and a return by 6:00 pm, this full-day adventure features thrilling grade 3 & 4 rapids, a scenic breakfast stop, a riverside lunch, and a final stop at the Feluga Hotel. What To Bring Swimwear, towel, change of dry clothes, secure footwear such as sandshoes or adventure sandals (no thongs), waterproof sunscreen, cap to wear under helmet (optional). Hire shoes available for $5 if you don’t want your shoes getting wet. In cooler months we recommend wearing Thermal tops and dry tops. From October - December is very likely to see March flies also known as horse flies on the river. We recommend wearing strong insect repellent and bright coloured light clothing - yellow/white/orange/fluorescent. Limited hire available for $5 for hire each. Also bring your voucher and money for additional refreshments and purchase of any digital photos you may like as an awesome reminder of your epic adventure. Please leave jewellery and valuables at your accommodation.
